Words of wisdom for today

A Litmus test of faith

“Paula White has joined an ever growing list of ministries that DENIES that Jesus is the ONLY begotten Son of God. They do this because they want to appeal to the masses thus they compromise the biblical message.”

We are commanded to try the spirits, in this case it is the spirit of Paula White and her teachings, True Discernment hit this right on the head. I would like to add a few scriptures to this out of 1 John. The first of these is the scripture from which we get trying the spirits.

“(1Jn 4:1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

John enjoins us to try the spirits to see if they are of God the object of that test is to ask the following. Lets do that now and apply it to what Paul White believes. There are three questions to this test and all of them are essential, lets call this our litmus test. (1) Do not believe every spirit, but put it to the test to determine if it comes from God, John says that there were many false prophets

(1Jn 4:1) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

(2) Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ had a physical human body is of God. The assumption that John is making is taken by everything he has said from the beginning of this book. John was warning about the false doctrine of gnosticism. They taught that the flesh is inherently evil, which lead them into the belief that Jesus did not have a physical body. He is saying that since he (John) knew Jesus that he (John) was in a position to testify that Jesus had a real and physical body.

“(1Jn 4:2) Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:”

(3) Lastly, those who deny a physical body to Christ are not of God. John calls this a spirit of Anti-Christ. Paula White is no different in this then the Catholic church. At that point in history that John was living the infant Catholic church was already building up around false doctrine. The first of these doctrines was that of gnosticism. The spirit of anti-Christ can be identified in a great number of historical movements of the early church. In everyone of these they substituted something in the place of Christ. In Roman-ism the substitute was the papacy, in catholic doctrine the pope is taken as being the lineal representative of Christ. The problem is Christ does not need a present time representative. A representative after the fashion of the Pope is idolatry. It is also anti-Christ because it is a replacement for Christ.

Jesus lives and is well able to take care of the church. He alone is representative for himself. The Holy Spirit is here to give us testimony to the reality of the Gospel. The scriptures contain all the information we need, which in this case the information that we would derive from the Pope is unnecessary.

(1Jn 4:3) And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Denial that Jesus is God’s only begotten Son is an attack at the very base of what it means to be a Christian. Once she stepped out on this she has revealed what she really is. We now know for sure that she is not going to heaven and is lost. In fact she never was a believer at any point, she came out from among us, but was not one with us in doctrine.
